At St Saviour’s we value our young people and have a dedicated youth and children’s worker as well as a number of volunteer workers. Our aim is to support our young people aged 11 to 18 as they grow in their faith through what can be difficult teen years. We do this by encouraging them to develop and nurture a relationship with God through teaching and discipling. Each adult involved has a DBS check and a commitment to safeguarding. We run several groups and activities for young people:
OFFSPRING: Sunday mornings 10.30 a.m.
After worship as a whole church, about 20 minutes into the service, we go out to have coffee or tea, a catch up and a bible study in the top floor of the church. The subjects for these are chosen with input from the group to reflect what they would like to explore or have questions about. We recently looked at the book of James and BIG questions of life. Once a month this group stays in to listen to the sermon – a vital part of growing up in the church.
YOUTH GROUP: Wednesdays 7–8 p.m. during term time
For ages 9 to 13
‘The Group’ is a youth club which meets in term time for a wide range of activities. We start with a short game, meet together for a chat and then do a different activity every week. Examples this year: water fights, table football, film nights, making fires, wii nights, drumming, games, cooking and lots of eating! We have occasional trips out – last year that included a bowling trip and kayaking.
Last year we hosted the Arise summer party.
Arise is held three times a year at different locations across the city of Bath. The purpose of the meetings is for young people to have the opportunity to build, develop and learn more about a relationship with God. Through the evenings there will be music, bonfires, drama, worship and sport led by youth workers and young people. The events are open to young people aged from 11 to 19, who are Christians or young people of no faith. #godisintheneighbourhood #Arise
Don’t let anyone look down on you because of your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
